Thursday’s Married at First Sight UK on E4 saw another two new couples tie the knot before ever having met one another before. And one bride and groom hoping they’d find their soulmate at first glance were Amy, 34, and groom Josh, 26. However, from the get-go, things didn’t exactly go on track for the newlyweds when a problem with Amy’s shower at the hotel caused her to be over an hour late for their nuptials – much to the amazement of MAFS UK viewers at home.

As Josh waited at the altar for Amy to arrive for their first-ever meeting, the nerves quickly began to build.

And as the time ticked on, Josh became notably more anxious as he waited for his bride.

When over 45 minutes passed, Josh even turned to Amy’s family and friends to ask: “Is it always like this?”

“Always,” Amy’s party joked before one even teased: “You’ll be lucky if she comes today.”

Luckily, Amy did arrive over an hour later than planned but was quick to apologise to the groom for the delay.

However, it didn’t take long for signs of tension to emerge as, when Amy explained the fault at the hotel which was behind the delay, Josh joked: “Took you long enough to come up with that excuse.”

And the awkwardness didn’t stop there as Josh mused off-camera: “The thought of getting married and actually getting married are two different things.

“Oh, my god. What the f**k am I doing?” he questioned to E4 viewers.

Despite the reservations, the pair moved on with proceedings and exchanged rings before sharing a kiss on the cheek.

And it soon became clear it wasn’t only Josh who had reservations as Amy became irked to hear about the eight-year age gap.

“The age gap,” the Married at First Sight star said. “I’m not really too happy about that.”

Amy was adamant that Josh’s age meant he wouldn’t be ready to settle down, despite signing up to the project.

However, it wasn’t just the age gap that took E4 viewers at home aback as many believed the romance was on the wrong tracks from the get-go due to the delay.

“#MAFSUK someone keeps me waiting an hour, I’m gone,” one fan admitted on Twitter.

“A hour late?! I would have walked away  #MAFSUK,” a second agreed, while a third echoed: “There’s no way I’d wait an hour for someone, I don’t care who they are. #MAFSUK.”

While a fourth said: “Being over an hour late to the wedding doesn’t exactly scream ‘good first impression’ #MAFSUK #MarriedAtFirstSightuk.”

“Omg an hour and a half late to meet a fiancé you’ve never met!? #MAFSUK,” a fifth stunned viewer said, while a sixth weighed in: “Surely someone has told him why she’s late  #MAFSUK.”

As the evening moved on, the clashes in personality continued to crop up between Amy and Josh – especially when it came to Amy’s fondness of spirituality.

So much so, Josh even questioned if things could last over their differences.

But will Amy and Josh be together forever, or will the Married at First Sight pair call it quits before their marriage has really begun?

Married at First Sight UK continues Monday at 9pm on E4.
