Martin Lewis challenges BBC Breakfast stars to 'grudge match' after GMB stint

Martin Lewis has challenged BBC Breakfast’s Naga Munchetty and Dan Walker to a ‘grudge match’ after his successful stint on Good Morning Britain – and they’ve accepted.

The money saving expert joined Susanna Reid on the ITV programme, where fans absolutely loved him, calling for the 49-year-old to become a permanent fixture.

Should BBC Breakfast be quaking in its boots?

Well, while Good Morning Britain has quite the climb to cling back to coming close to BBC Breakfast in the ratings following Piers Morgan’s abrupt exit earlier this year, Martin has called for a clash of the breakfast TV titans on… the golf course.

After his first three days hosting GMB, Martin tweeted: ‘Thanks to (almost) all of you for your support on @gmb week. It’s a privilege to step out of my usual subject area. @susannareid100 is an incredibly generous & supportive co-presenter behind the scenes and the team have looked after me well making it so much easier.’

Dan, who is used to the painfully early alarm clocks, commented: ‘Glad you enjoyed it Martin. How did your brain/body cope?’

‘I really enjoyed it,’ said Martin. ‘Thanks for asking. But… back knotted due to lack of sleep. It’s quite tough to do, then to go to work at MSE afterwards.

‘You are made of sterner stuff than me. PS Ben & I should take you and Naga on at golf (handicaps in play) as a “grudge match” ;),’

After Dan Walker confirmed it was a done ‘deal’, Naga threw her hat into the ring to post: ‘Always up for a challenge.’

Game on.

While most viewers adored Martin’s first time presenting Good Morning Britain – aside from Lord Alan Sugar, who wanted to punch him ‘for no real reason’ – sadly the financial guru confirmed he didn’t want the job permanently, nit ‘wouldn’t mind coming back’.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV. BBC Breakfast kicks off at the same time on BBC One.
