Maya Jama ‘proud’ of how she handled tech blunders throughout Love Island final

Maya Jama has defended how she handled the final of Love Island, saying she was "bloody proud" of how she handled hosting the show.

The final took place on Monday (July 31) where Jess Harding and Sammy Root were crowned winners of the ITV dating show and both won £50k.

The pair managed to beat the bookies, who had predicted Whitney Adebayo and Lochan Nowacki to take the win.

But the final had been plagued with technical blunders and on-air incidents.

In one incident, a tense moment and some technical difficulties meant that Whitney and Lochan's best bits from the show were not shown.

Another run-in happened when Maya's autocue failed on her as she was speaking, leaving her to improvise on the spot.

Viewers were left reeling as the show when from one hitch to the next, taking to Twitter to hit out at the show for not preparing properly.

But posting to her Instagram story on Wednesday (August 2), Maya said she was happy with how the show went out.

"Just watched back the final and [crying emoji] so cute," she wrote.

"Also had my first autocue going down situation and I am bloody proud of the way I handled it (presenters will know how much of a madness that is)."

Ahead of the ball in the villa, the boys headed to the barbers to freshen up.

But fans of the show were quick to point out a glitch in the show, as they believed the barbers were styling their hair and not cutting at all.

During the final, after speaking to Whitney and Lochan, Maya introduced the montage of their best bits.

But a technical blunder meant that Sammy and Jess' time in the villa was played instead.

Maya did not address the misjudgment and quickly moved to go to a break.

Fans were sent into a meltdown, with one user tweeting: "One of the producers is getting fired today".

Another asked: "What just happened? They very quickly just moved on to the break?"

Whilst a third said: "I'm sorry but this has been one of the worst finales of Love Island, mistakes showing the best bits and then the winners are JESS AND SAMMY!!!"
