Cindy Cunningham (Stephanie Waring) made the ultimate sacrifice in Hollyoaks in a bid to help Nancy Osborne (Jessica Fox) raise the funds so that she could fly to America to save daughter Morgan’s life.
The entrepreneur, as viewers know, has been struggling to come to terms with the wreckage caused to her market, after Norma Crow’s (Glynis Barber) devastating crash.
The insurance would’ve covered the damage, but Cindy forgot to renew it, meaning that she now has to raise the cash to fund the repairs herself, otherwise Tom (Ellis Hollins) will find out about her carelessness.
After giving it some thought, Cindy decided to sell her engagement ring, believing it’s what Luke Morgan (Gary Lucy) would want her to do, but she soon decided to spend the money in another way.
Nancy, as viewers know, is desperate to raise money to fly to America, after she and Darren (Ashley Taylor Dawson) were notified that baby Morgan has a heart condition that will need major surgery.
With Dr Laithwaite, the best consultant and expert in his field, currently residing in the US, Nancy felt the had no other option but to travel to the other wide of the world in a bid to save her daughter’s life.
Cindy, having overheard of her friend’s emotional and financial struggles, decided to give Nancy the money she made from selling her ring, believing that this is absolutely what Luke would want her to do.
Morgan, as viewers know, was named in honour of Luke, who tragically died last year.
Nancy was overwhelmed by Cindy’s gesture, and subsequent scenes saw her say goodbye to all of her loved ones, telling them just how much she cherishes them, before getting into a cab and departing for the States.

Darren, meanwhile, was left in tears, fearing that he won’t be able to cope without Nancy by his side.
Nancy’s departure storyline was written in to facilitate actress Jessica Fox’s maternity leave. Jessica revealed last week that she had given birth to a baby boy named River.
