Tony DiNozzo (played by Michael Weatherly) and Ziva David’s (Cote de Pablo) love story was and remains to this day one of NCIS’ most gripping and best-loved romances. However, with the pair’s whereabouts believed to be in Paris, France, and both not seen on-screen together since way back in season 11, CBS viewers have longed to see the duo reunite with Gibbs (Mark Harmon) and co – with season 19 the seemingly perfect opportunity.

Now, the actor behind Tony and former co-star Brian Dietzen, who plays Jimmy Palmer, may have just added fuel to the fire that a comeback could be on the cards.

Together, Dietzen and Weatherly both have appeared in over 300 episodes of NCIS, respectively – many of those opposite one another.

But will they come face to face once more in season 19? Weatherly took to Twitter this week to drop a cryptic hint about his time on the show.

Alongside a snap of Ziva and Tony from the show’s 200th episode – season nine’s Life Before His Eyes – Weatherly tweeted: “Let’s just say… they ended up in Paris.

“Anyone think that’s a possibility? (BTW, filming this scene for ep 200 of #ncis was one of my favorite moments).” (sic)

And while the open-ended question was enough to spark a frenzy among Weatherly’s followers, it was a reply from Dietzen which caught the eye.

Replying to Weatherly, Dietzen penned the cryptic quote: “‘Ziva loves Paris’.”

Inevitably, it didn’t take long for eagle-eyed NCIS fans to try and work out the meaning to the interaction – with a number tipping a Tiva return as a result.

Luz Angela replied: “Hey Brian! Definitely Palmer knows something else… I hope he gives us a sitrep about Tony in a soon to air episode [wink emoji].”

“Are y’all dropping hints about smth or…” Eve pondered, while Jess mused: “A phrase that obviously means more than even the most diehard of us fans understand…yet…”

Janis agreed: “He used present tense when he spoke that sentence. I instantly knew her story, their story, wasn’t done yet!”

Sarah also presumes there’s more to come, tweeting: “You’re trying to tell us something aren’t you.” (sic)

So could Dietzen and Weatherly be hinting at a shock return to the States for Tony and Ziva?

Could the pair have had enough of Paris life and decide to head home to reunite with their family and friends?

The last fans heard of Tiva was thanks to an update from Tony’s dad Tony Sr (Robert Wagner) way back in season 17.

Jimmy had informed the team that Tony Sr had headed to Paris to see his son and soul mate.

Jimmy told the team: “Senior’s still in Paris with the fam,

“Apparently, by reuniting Ziva with Tony and Tali, NCIS has made him the ‘happiest pop-pop’ ever.”

Fans will have to keep tuned in to season 19 to see if Tiva will be back after Weatherly and Dietzen’s exchange.

NCIS season 19 airs Mondays on CBS in the USA. A UK release date is yet to be announced.
