Attention Poguelandia — Outer Banks Season 3 is officially a go. Here’s everything we know so far about the new season of the Netflix series Outer Banks starring Chase Stokes and Madelyn Cline, including a potential release date.
‘Outer Banks’ Season 3 teaser from the cast
“I got an announcement all the way from Poguelandia,” Stokes says in a “Breaking News” post from the official Outer Banks Netflix account. “We’ve got incoming news. Drum roll please.”
Then, clips of Stokes’ co-stars including Cline, Austin North, Drew Starkey, Madison Bailey, Rudy Pankow, Jonathan Daviss, and season 2 newcomer Carlacia Grant play. “It’s season 3 baby!” Stokes exclaims. “We’re coming back, season 3.”
“Back like we never left,” Bailey adds. “Can’t kill a Pogue,” Pankow reminds fans. “See you in Poguelandia, baby!” Grant teases.
At this time, Netflix has not released any further information about the release date for Outer Banks Season 3.
Fans react to ‘Outer Banks’ renewal
Outer Banks fans seem happy just knowing Netflix is bringing the show back despite the lack of release date. “That’s what I’m talking about baby!!!!” a fan wrote on Reddit. “Get those season 3 predictions locked in!!!!” another fan said. “The countdown starts today.”
Others posted about the plot lines they can’t wait to see in Outer Banks Season 3. “I am realllyyy interested to see what they do with Rafe’s character arc this season,” said one fan. Rafe became a leading character in season 2 of Outer Banks and many fans are hopeful that the trend continues in the new season.
‘Outer Banks’ Season 3 release should be mid-2022
The confirmation about season 3 of Outer Banks has been the cast’s best-kept secret. But a source close to the show recently told Small Screen about the scripts for seasons 3 and 4, claiming they are in the process of being “finished.”
“Season 3 should start filming this year,” the source explained. They say season 3 should be released on Netflix in the middle of 2022, likely in time for summer.
Potential plot points for ‘Outer Banks’ Season 3
Thanks to the major cliffhanger ending of Outer Banks Season 2, fans have a lot of questions that deserve to be answered in the upcoming season of the Netflix series. For example, was Carla Limbrey’s (Elizabeth Mitchell) encounter with Big John Rutledge (Charles Halford) a flashback?
Big John claims he can help her find the mythical shroud she’s in search of to cure her mysterious illness, but some fans think this could have taken place before the story in Outer Banks Season 1 started. Still, others believe John B.’s bandana is the shroud and Limbrey’s meeting with Big John was in real-time at the end of season 2.
Another major question fans have is about the Pogues’ exit from Poguelandia. At the end of season 2, they’re alone on an island after escaping Ward Cameron’s (Charles Esten) clutches. Who will get them back to the Outer Banks?
