Craig Revel Horwood discusses Paul O'Grady death
Host Rob Rinder paid a special tribute to the late Paul O’Grady as he remarked on the “loss” the entire room felt.
It came during Tuesday’s Television and Radio Industries Club (TRIC Awards) before the winners were announced.
Rob remarked: “All of us will be feeling this loss in the room, this rich, joyous, limitless unique energy that was the late, the profoundly great Paul O’Grady.
“Last year, he’s a friend of mine and many here, he won the Factual Award and he’s nominated again this year.
“Paul was truly one of a kind and his loss is richly felt and irreplaceable.
“He was truly one of the broadcasting greats, a game-changer with a deep heart, an honest heart, and that quick funny mind.
“I can say, also as a gay man, someone who stood there indifferent to the story the world had written for him.”
Rob went on: “Instead [he was] somebody who decided to take that pen back and used the platform of television and radio to get that pen out and say, ‘F**k you, I write my own story.’
“What a greater gift can there be to you and everyone around to hold the pen and write that story.
“So please can we, all of us, raise a glass for the profound, the extraordinary, the one and the only Paul O’Grady.”

The room joined in the celebration of Paul, who died in March following a cardiac arrest.
Later during the awards, a clip was shown of Paul on stage with a dog as he collected an award.
There weren’t many dry eyes on the stage as fans reflected on the 67-year-old’s legacy.
The TV industry was rocked by Paul’s sudden death earlier this year, and a month later, the streets where Paul lived were lined with mourners, from fellow dog lovers to fans of his many TV personalities.
Many four-legged friends also joined those paying their respects to the TV icon.
