Peter Kay’s fans beg him to return to TV after new series of Comedy Shuffle leaves them in hysterics

PETER Kay’s fans have begged him to return to TV after his new series of Comedy Shuffle went down a storm.

The series, which started tonight on BBC One, celebrated the comedian’s funniest and finest work from the last twenty years.

After watching the show, Peter’s loyal fans pleaded with him for new material.

Peter, 44, cancelled his mammoth UK tour in December 2017 due to “unforeseen family circumstances”.

Fans rallied around him and after watching tonight’s first episode – which featured previously unseen clips from his stand-up routines and Phoenix Nights – pleaded for more.

One tweeted: “Peter Kay needs to do another tour a new Phoenix Nights and a new Max And Paddy. Best comedian to grace the earth!”

While another said: “I hope you come back with something as good you’re a Genius!”

A third told him: ”Oh I do miss you @peterkay_co_uk i am roaring laughing here absolutely brilliant.”

Earlier this year insiders close to Pete told The Sun he would not be writing anymore scripts for his hit series Car Share – leaving fans gutted.

A source explained: “He believes great sitcoms should go out on a high like Fawlty Towers.

“So sadly that’s definitely the end, however much fans might beg for more.”

The finale was the second of two specials written to give closure to fans after the second, and last, series ended on a cliff-hanger.

When he cancelled his tour, Peter released a lengthy statement and was supported by his legion of followers who wished him well.

He said at the time: “Due to unforeseen family circumstances, I deeply regret that I am having to cancel all of my upcoming work projects.
