Piers Morgan and other furious celebs fume as Matt Hancock reaches I’m A Celeb final

Matt Hancock's position in this year's I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! final was confirmed last night (November 26), when it was revealed that Mike Tindall would be leaving the jungle.

The Royal Family member's departure has left former footballer Jill Scott, Hollyoaks' Owen Warner and the former health secretary in the final tonight.

The announcement left many fans up and down the country shocked, but not many were as furious as Piers Morgan who appeared to led a chorus of angry celebs in protest.

The former Good Morning Britain presenter took to Twitter to write: “That Matt Hancock, who should be doing his job as an MP, may win I’m A Celebrity after his appalling handling of the pandemic & shameful sacking for breaking his own lockdown rules, is a damning indictment of the celebrification of politics & the British public’s amnesia.”

Loose Woman Denise Welch quickly followed suit, writing: “Why is there not a criminal investigation underway regarding Matt Hancock, Michelle Mone & others and the VIP line!!! 2.5 billion worth of contracts secured without tender, PPE that was unusable and one of them is about to do the f…..g cyclone in #ImACelebrity !!!!!!!!!” [sic]

Former campmate, writer and radio DJ Danny Baker told how he’s had to stop watching this year’s show and slammed the MP as a “disgrace”.

He tweeted: “Stopped watching #ImACeleb five episodes ago when it became clear Matt Hancock was being facilitated by a pro-Tory voting block.

“@ ITV should really review what they have done here. The total trivialisation of a national tragedy. He is not ‘a character’. He is a disgrace.”

Former Blue Peter presenter Simon Thomas wrote: "@MattHancock is now strutting around the jungle like some smug Tory national hero; not the monumental cretin who threw a load of untested elderly people back into care homes."

Mr Hancock controversially entered the jungle earlier this month and ever since has angered many across the country – with Covid-19 Bereaved Families for Justice launching a campaign to block the sitting MP from joining this year's I'm A Celebrity line-up.

Despite possibly being the most controversial campmate ever, Mr Hancock remains in the jungle and is now in the final.

The West Suffolk MP earned his "controversial" tag after playing a prominent role in the government’s handling of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Issuing Covid-19 guidance for the nation, Mr Hancock branded anyone ignoring social distancing rules and restrictions as "very selfish" prior to being pictured kissing his then-aide, Gina Coladangelo.

The ex-Health Sec stepped down from his role in June 2021 after he was exposed for breaking the very same social distancing rules that he had in part set in law.
