Pointless backlash rages on as Sally Lindsay branded 'intolerable' and 'out of place' by livid viewers | The Sun

POINTLESS backlash has raged on after Sally Lindsay was branded 'intolerable' and 'out of place' by livid viewers.

The former Coronation Street star is one of a number of guest co-hosts to present the show alongside Alexander Armstrong following Richard Osman's departure.

Back in April The Sun reported how Richard, 51, had decided to walk away from the show after 13 years.

This week, the first episodes without Richard at his desk aired, with Sally, 49, taking his place.

Pointless viewers were far from impressed by her debut and their opinions weren't changed by her second outing on Wednesday.

Taking to Twitter, one viewer wrote: "Got no issue with Sally Lindsay as such, but she's no Richard Osman is she?!? #Pointless."

Another added: "I'll be honest. Anyone could just read off a laptop like Sally. She's so awkward and unnatural at is. #Pointless."

A third tweeted: "Pointless I really can't tolerate tv hosts with bad grammar and diction. Sally Lindsay hasn't got off to a very good start by saying 'twenny' instead of twenty. She really blotted her copybook later by saying 'mischievious'."

Meanwhile a fourth shared: "Oh dear. Not a fan of this Sally #Pointless."

A fellow viewer wrote: "It's a shame, Sally Lindsay is lovely, but completely not right for Pointless. Not witty or quick enough. Seems very out of place #Pointless."

Richard had filmed more than 1,300 episodes and 30 series before his departure.

At the time, Richard released a statement on his departure, saying: "Pointless has been a joy from start to finish, working alongside my friend Alexander Armstrong, backed by the most wonderful team, and for the best viewers in the world.

"I will miss everyone so much, but I’m thrilled that I’ll still be presenting the celebrity shows. I can’t thank everyone enough for 12 amazing years."

As well as Sally, other guest hosts will include The Last Legs' Alex Brooker, radio DJ Lauren Laverne, actor Stephen Mangan, former Blue Peter presenter Konnie Huq and comedian Ed Gamble.

Pointless airs weekdays at 5.15pm on BBC One and is available on BBC iPlayer.
