Fiona Wade is set for a fiery exit in Emmerdale when her character, Priya Sharma’s, past traumas from being trapped in Meena Jutla’s (Paige Sadhu) maze of death come back to haunt her.

It all stems from a careless moment at the Take A Vow event when a veil goes up in flames. Priya is left frozen in fear at the memory of the day that left her with nasty burns across a large section of her body and the months of painful recovery that followed. Shaken to the core, Priya runs.

Leyla (Roxy Shahidi) fails to appreciate what Priya is going through, so it’s up to Priya’s brother Jai (Chris Bisson) to find her and talk her through her trauma along with Manpreet (Rebecca Sarkar). Meanwhile, Leyla is stunned when Justin from the Take A Vow event approaches her and offers a job with his London team. Leyla is ecstatic at this chance of a fresh start away from her troubles in the village.

With the help of her family, Priya manages to calm down enough to realise she needs to make amends over the incident at the event. When she bumps into Justin at the Hop, she decides to be open about what took place, and he is hugely impressed with her honest approach. So much so, he offers her a job with his London team – the London job he offered Leyla.

Leyla is gutted to learn she’s been gazumped by her pal and accuses Priya of sabotaging her dream of starting again away from Dales. Priya on the other hand is ready to put herself first for her own fresh start. But there’s a David-shaped spanner in the works. He reacts badly and completely unpredictably at the news Priya is moving hours away with their daughter. In a moment of madness, he takes Amba and does a bunk.

He’s been at breaking point for a while and this is enough to tip him over the edge. Priya is in full-blown panic mode with her finger hovering ready to dial 999 at the disappearance of her daughter, but Jacob and Pollard attempt to talk her down, buying David more time. Meanwhile, unhinged David is hiding out in an unknown cottage. Leyla happens to know exactly where he is and shows up to take some sense into the madman.

Unfortunately for her, you can’t argue with stupidity and her good intentions result in her own kidnapping. David cruelly locks her in the bathroom before she can call the police, thinking that will solve his problem.

Little does he know Priya is already on the phone to the old bill.
