RICHARD Madeley shared his bizarre food craving with Good Morning Britain viewers today saying it was sparked by lack of sleep and early starts.
The 65-year-old said he gets just four hours kip a night and the lack of shut eye has caused havoc on his diet.
I'm A Celeb star Richard arrives at work before 5am to prepare to go live at 6am, and the programme finishes at 10am.
He told co-host Susanna Reid today: "I do find I am absolutely starving at the end of this show, after having four or five hours sleep.
"I have an incredible craving for tinned spam.
"But it's only when I do this show.
"Sometimes I actually get in the car and go to the shops and buy a couple of tins," Richard continued.
The pair were joined by Dr. Amir Khan on the show, who spoke about how a lack of sleep is connected to weight gain.
Dr. Amir replied: "It's sugary and fatty foods that you crave when you don't sleep so much because of hormone imbalances.
"But also that part your brain craves a reward, and spam is your version of a reward."
"You can get low-fat spam as well," Richard continued as Susanna rolled her eyes and said: "Are you angling for a sponsorship?!"

Susanna admitted she too found herself reaching for snacks in the afternoon, adding: "That moment about three o'clock in the afternoon where I'm hit by a snack attack, I cannot stop stuffing my face."

"It shuts down your frontal lobe, which helps you make good decisions."
