Ryan Connor’s (Ryan Prescott) behaviour changes dramatically in upcoming Coronation Street episodes as he becomes impacted by not only the steroids he’s started taking, but the ongoing trauma after his acid attack.
Ryan began taking the drugs shortly after his return from Ireland. He is currently focused on changing his physical appearance by developing an interest in fitness and also injecting himself with steroids.
He is also doing this in the hope it’ll help with his lack of self confidence.
In upcoming episodes, however, it’s clear that Ryan’s mental health isn’t improving, as Alya (Sair Khan) tells Carla (Alison King) that during her lunch with Ryan, he seemed restless and preoccupied.

Towards the end of the week, Ryan enters his bedroom clutching a needle to find Carla making his bed.
He hides the needle in his hand and tries to keep a lid on his temper, but once Carla’s gone he punches the wardrobe in anger, the steroids clearly taking effect.
On the way back from a run, Ryan begins to experience heart palpitations and very nearly collapses to the floor, but Gary (Mikey North) gets there in time and tells him to take some deep breaths.
Clocking Ryan’s energy drink, Gary is curious to know whether his friend has taken anything else, but will Gary believe him if Ryan lies?
‘When he comes back from Ireland he’s fully seated in that position of denial’, Ryan Prescott explained.
‘He’s already convinced himself that he’s getting back on his feet and this newfound interest in fitness is going to bring him out of his shell and give him the confidence he needs. It gives him something to focus on and takes his mind off all the pain he’s been through and the fact he looks so different.’
