As Gemma Winter (Dolly-Rose Campbell) looks further into becoming a BSL-friendly child minder in Coronation Street, it appears Chesney Brown (Sam Aston) has a few aspirations of his own.
Gemma’s idea came about after she learnt Mrs York had told Joseph (William Flanagan) off for using sign-language in school.
As the mother of a deaf son (Aled), Gemma was hurt and demanded BSL was put on the curriculum.
Using her passion in a more positive light, an upbeat Gemma tells Ches that her first potential client is coming round soon – a lady with two kids, one of them deaf.
Meanwhile, in the kebab shop, Dev (Jimmi Harkishin) notices that there’s a huge packet of beef in the fridge about to go to waste.
Taking it home for dinner, Chesney presents Gemma with some homemade burgers and chips, admitting that it’s his dream to one day have his own burger joint called ChesBurger.
While Gemma’s impressed, they’re acutely aware that with money extremely tight, that dream won’t be in reaching distance anytime soon.
