Jean (Gillian Wright)’s behaviour has given Stacey (Lacey Turner) cause for concern for some time in EastEnders, as she worries that her mother’s bipolar is getting out of control.
In upcoming episodes it becomes clear that Jean is not her usual self, and her actions start to have a seriously negative impact on her grandson, Arthur (Hunter Bell). First she hurts Arthur by accidentally colliding with him on a bouncy castle. But it’s what happens next that could end up scarring the poor lad for life.
After the bouncy castle incident, Stacey bans Jean from being alone with the kids until she’s seen a doctor. Jean ignores this and takes Arthur off to the tube station, where she tells him what happened to his father, Kush (Davood Ghadami).
Kush of course was a victim of evil Gray Atkins (Toby-Alexander Smith). How Arthur will react to being told out of the blue that his father was murdered remains to be seen, but Stacey is absolutely furious when she finds out that Jean has gone against her wishes and told Arthur the grisly details.
There’s a huge argument and Jean ends up packing her bags and moving in with Harvey (Ross Boatman) and Rocky (Brian Conley).
Will Jean realise that she needs help before anyone else gets hurt?
