Aadi Alahan (Adam Hussain) is in for a surprise in Coronation Street as he meets Courtney Vance (Stephanie Davis), who wastes no time in expressing her feelings for him.
Courtney is married to Darren (Ryan Early), a businessman who starts collaborating with Dev (Jimmi Harkishin).
As they talk about working together, Courtney will set her sights on Aadi, who offers her a lot in contrast with Darren, according to Stephanie Davis:
‘She has a lot of confidence but deep down, there’s a lot of layers. I can tell by how she is; she references her mum in some of the scenes, but you can tell that she’s not had a great life. She’s met this Darren, he’s got loads of money, but there’s no love there. Courtney in a nutshell is just longing to be loved.’

‘Courtney’s really attracted to Aadi but also, it comes from her relationship with Darren. He’s cheated on her multiple times; it’s affected her self-worth and confidence. I know she’s attracted to him but a lot of it is to get one back on her husband. She wants someone to love her, and Aadi shows that.’
One thing that is certainly notable in this storyline is the age difference between the two characters. Stephanie explained that this isn’t something that bothers Courtney at all, as she’s more focused on the fact Aadi is being genuine and giving her something she’s wanted for so long:
‘I think she notices that Aadi’s paying attention to her, and she goes for it. She definitely cares about him. At first, it’s a bit of fun. She’s loving the attention; it’s making her feel good and she’s not felt like that for a long time. She’s in a loveless marriage, in this big house with Darren, he doesn’t pay her any attention, just gives her the credit card. At first, it’s a bit of fun, but then she sees this other side to Aadi and then it gets a bit more serious.
‘Aadi shows that she’s more than just the trophy wife, he says, you’ve got brains and you’re clever!’, Stephanie added.
‘But with the marriage and Darren, she’s basically been a trophy wife for about 10 years. She’s never worked, everything is in his name, it would take a lot for her to break away and be on her own.’
As Courtney and Aadi’s feelings for each other develop, Courtney is left contemplating her future as being with Aadi or Darren will end up offering her one thing but losing out on another.
‘It then gets quite serious, and she genuinely is falling for Aadi, but then comes the reality of the financial side – if she stays with Darren, she’s in a loveless marriage but she’s got all this money.
‘If she leaves Darren and goes with Aadi, she’ll be skint and have no money, but she’ll have love.’
