Strictly Come Dancing in huge shake-up as iconic BBC show returns to schedule

The BBC has been hit with a huge shake-up as Strictly Come Dancing will kick off later than usual.

The dance competition typically begins at 6:40pm on BBC One on Saturday nights, however, things look slightly different this evening (November 25). Tonight, Strictly will start at the later time of 7:30pm, meaning fans will have to wait nearly an hour longer for the show to begin.

This is to make way for Doctor Who. To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the iconic sci-fi series, the show has returned for three highly anticipated specials.

Tonight, former Time Lord companion Donna Noble (Catherine Tate) reunites with David Tennant, who played the Doctor between 2005 and 2010, in the Tardis when her past catches up with her. In the new season, set to air on the BBC next year, Sex Education star Ncuti Gatway will star in the title role.

Doctor Who fans can also expect an extra Christmas Day episode. This means for the next three weeks, Strictly will air later than its usual timeslot. Last week, Angela Rippon was eliminated from the competition after landing in the bottom two for the third consecutive week at Blackpool.

The 79-year-old TV presenter, who is the oldest contestant to ever take part in Strictly, lost out to EastEnders star Bobby Brazier. She gracefully exited the competition following an American smooth, with partner Kai Widdrington confessing "it felt right" when their time came to an end.
