Strictly Come Dancing's Giovanni reunites with old dance partner after Amanda Abbington's shock quit | The Sun

STRICTLY Come Dancing pro Giovanni Pernice was spotted with his former celebrity partner as they enjoyed a drink in London.

The Italian, 33, headed to the Royal Opera House with actress Rose Ayling Ellis, 28 – just days after his 2023 show pairing came to an end when Amanda Abbington suddenly quit.

Sherlock actress Amanda, 49, missed a Strictly Come Dancing show in October due to undisclosed medical reasons – before she called time on the BBC series completely.

The Sun reported in September how Amanda and Giovanni had clashed — with the actress threatening to quit over the dance pro’s “militant” attitude to training.

Yet she is alleged to have "not told" the fan-favourite of her decision before she announced it leaving him "devastated."

With more time on his hands due to a lack of a hectic Strictly schedule, Giovanni caught up with ex-EastEnders star Rose.

The duo won the show's iconic Glitter Ball trophy back in 2021.

The pair have stayed close following their Strictly stint, with Giovanni often posting public messages of support.

In his latest video, he captured Rose at the swanky venue with a glass of fizz.

Showing their banter, he said: "I tell you what you should do, you should drink that.

"You have smelly breath. Onion soup!"

After checking it out, Rose enlisted the help of a waitress for some peppermint before tucking into some olives.

She said: "Not onion soup any more, it's olive breath."

Giovanni joked: "I'm sorry," before attempting to brush the imaginary smell away as she playfully pushed it back.

After watching a dance show at the venue they headed to Rose's apartment, where she tried to show off her skills before toppling over.

Back in 2021, Rose's win meant she became the first ever deaf person to win on the show, with the pair scoring two-perfect scores during the final, performing a dance many called the "TV moment of the year".

Speaking after their win, Giovanni praised the "incredible" woman who made all his "dreams come true".

Rose herself was almost lost for words and called her partner an "incredible teacher and wonderful friend" and said that the Italian pro would always have a "part of my heart".

Yet this week, fans noted how he looked "lost" on the show following Amanda's exit.

Recently, a source told New of his state of mind and said: "Giovanni is sympathetic, but struggling to face the realisation that his time in the competition is over at a crucial stage in his career.

“Giovanni is really competitive and dancing is his life. This could be his last ever Strictly. He’s been thinking about the future as he gets older so, if that’s the case, it’s a shame it’s ended this way."
