Kevin Clifton says he’s too old and hanging up his dancing shoes
Strictly Come Dancing professional Kevin Clifton made his debut on the BBC series a decade ago and quickly became a firm favourite among fans. He quit the programme in 2017 saying he “wished to leave on a high”. Kevin appeared on Friday’s instalment of BBC Breakfast where he hinted at hanging up his dancing shoes for good.
BBC host Naga Munchetty began: “Good morning Kevin, do you know what? I was saying I don’t think you will ever hang up your dancing shoes, would you say that is fair?”
However, the beloved dancer replied: “I don’t know, I’m getting older. I’m 40 years old now and doing all this dancing takes quite a toll.
“But I still love it obviously,” the new dad explained to BBC viewers.
Naga probed: “But surely, once it’s in you, it’s surely still your passion as well as your job, isn’t it?”
Kevin replied: “Oh yes, I definitely love it. Stacey probably loves it more than me, she never stops dancing.”
Kevin was referring to his partner Stacey Dooley who recently gave birth to their first child together.
The documentary maker welcomed Minnie into the world in January and described her as a “little masterpiece” on social media.
On International Women’s Day, Stacey confirmed her daughter’s last name.
“Mummy’s gift to Minnie this IWD. Our leading lady,” Stacey posted alongside a photograph of a card with Minnie Dooley written on the front.
Stacey and Kevin met during the 16th series of Strictly Come Dancing in 2018 and went on to win the Glitterball Trophy.
The duo confirmed they were in a romantic relationship following their victory and announced they were expecting a child last August.
Kevin posted a touching message about Stacey for her 36th birthday on his Instagram earlier this month.
