The Bay: Metcalf family devastated by fire
The final episode of The Bay opened with DS Jenn Townsend (played by Marsha Thomason) discovering it was Lewis Walsh (Arthur Kay) who had thrown a brick at her family home. Later on, Jenn’s boss linked Lewis Walsh (Arthur Kay) to the house fire which killed Beth Metcalf (Victoria Elliot) which left ITV viewers in shock.
When Lewis was taken back to the police station, fingerprint evidence proved he was near the Metcalf house when the fire broke out.
A lighter with his DNA on it had been found in a car near the scene of the crime, but he denied any involvement at first.
As the pressure of the interrogation mounted, the youngster admitted he had started the fire as he didn’t realise anyone was in the house.
He wanted to impress his stepdad who had some rivalry with Dean Metcalf (Joe Armstrong).
Meanwhile, Carl (Karl Davies) owned up to starting the fire in the yard under his father Terry McGregor’s (Ian Puleston-Davies) instruction.
Terry admitted he wanted to win the Frontierland bid as he knew about a dead body there which would soon be unearthed.
His father had killed a planning officer many years ago and Terry assisted with burying the body.
When Terry was charged by the police, Carl testified against his father and Lewis learned he would be serving a minimum of six years at a youth detention centre.
The Bay viewers flocked to Twitter following the dramatic series finale with many desperate to know if the drama will return for a new season.
