This Morning viewers in tears as Holly Willoughby returns to show to gift dying girl her tiara

THIS Morning viewers were left in tears today as Holly Willoughby made a return to the show to give a dying girl her tiara.

The TV presenter, who is currently on her summer break, appeared via video link to surprise superfan Sophie, who has a rare form of incurable cancer.

Her dad explained: “She has been so positive about it. She has something called rhabdomyosarcoma.

“She had a twelve inch tumour that was removed back in September and unfortunately she relapsed in June after nine months of chemotherapy and radiotherapy, so they have told us there is no cure for it now.”

The brave youngster, who has a Justgiving page, has created a list of things she wants to do and going on This Morning was one of them.

Unfortunately, her favourite presenter Holly wasn’t there but she made sure she could chat to her and gift her two of her personal items – the tiara she wore when she was Cinderalla and also her water bottle from when she was hosting I’m A Celebrity.

Popping up on screen, Holly told her: “It’s so lovely to meet you. I am so sorry I can't be there but when I heard you were coming on the show, I was like ‘right, I want to be there’, I wish I could be there. I am sending you a big, virtual cuddle.”

She continued:  “I was racking my brains last night and I was reading all about you, and I know you are a girl after my own heart and love fashion.

“I was thinking of all of my outfits on This Morning, what was my favourite and it had to be my Cinderella dress and the best bit about it was that tiara, so that’s my favourite thing.”

I wish I could be there. I am sending you a big, virtual cuddle.

Holly added: “You are a lucky girl because I asked if I could take it home for my daughter and they said no, it was too special to take home.”

Those watching at home were very moved by Sophie’s story and took to Twitter to comment on it.

One person wrote:  “Omg I'm in tears at that. Little Sophie, amazing. #thismorning.”

A second added: “What a lovely thing for Holly to do for Sophie. She's got such a nice soul #ThisMorning.”

While a third remarked: “Heartbreaking watching little sophie what a shame #thismorning.”
