This Morning viewers slam Prime Minister interview for ‘letting him off easy’

This Morning viewers have slammed the show after an interview with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak was branded "a missed opportunity" by viewers at home.

Presenters Alison Hammond and Craig Doyle sat down to interview the senior politician over subjects including immigration and education.

While viewers praised presenter Craig for asking some hard-hitting questions, they also accused Alison of "letting him off" by missing opportunities to ask more difficult questions of the Conservative MP.

Flooding social media while the interview aired, viewers branded the interview "disgraceful".

One viewer tweeted: "The #ThisMorning interview of Sunak is disgraceful. He is obfuscating & not telling the truth on numerous items and they are not even querying points, let alone holding him to account."

Another added: "#ThisMorning christ almighty, you get to interview the prime minister and it's pure car crash tv. What a wasted opportunity."

"I'll interview rishi do a better job than these two they don't press him on any serious questions," said a third.

A fourth wrote: "This 'interview' is as disappointing as a wet weekend in Rhyll."

Another added: "There were so many more important things that could’ve been put to the pm. What a shocking ‘interview’".

Viewers were keen to point out that presenter Craig Doyle appeared to be asking more of the serious questions as one viewer praised: "Craig obviously taking the lead in this interview … Alison has already glazed over and just nodding."

Another agreed as they wrote: "Love Craig, he is a good presenter #ThisMorning. Alison just doesn't have the right approach to interview on serious issues."

Similarly, viewers slammed Alison Hammond for her lack of pressing questions to the MP as one viewer wrote: "Well, Alison has made a complete car crash out of this interview."

Another added: "i'm not impressed with Alison the way she conducted the interview laughing with him when people are suffering cost of living. More questions of energy bills , tax hikes, food prices needed to be asked Craig did ask some good questions."

"Alison’s totally swooning over him. Should only allow Craig to do the serious interviews. He was trying to question him seriously then Hammond asks the PM, when’s the last time you cried," complained a third.

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
