Virgin River fans are busy sharing their ideas on what will happen and what will be revealed during season three. With the next season premiering on July 9, it won’t be long until all is revealed. But did Bert (played by Trevor Lerner) betray Jack (Martin Henderson) and Mel (Alexandra Breckenridge)?

Did Bert betray Jack and Mel?

The trailer for season three of Virgin River dropped last week and it has sent fans down the rabbit hole of piecing its clues together.

The trailer was cryptic, but it did reveal some crucial aspects of the upcoming season.

At centre stage once again was Jack and Mel’s romance with the pair looking to be living in domestic bliss at the start of the trailer.

One thing the trailer revealed that once again Jack and Mel’s new life would soon be upended, with their log cabin on fire during the end of the trailer.

It wasn’t long until fans took to Reddit.com on the r/VirginRiverNetflix page to share their thoughts ahead of the season three premiere.

In a post titled “Predictions for Season 3”  one fan wrote: “That Bert betrayed Jack and Mel and he was the shooter. Unlikely, but interesting.

“My only 99.99% prediction is that the funeral that is mentioned in the description for the season is Lily’s. Jack and Mel are totally buying that property.”

If this turns out to be true it would have major consequences for the next season, it would also explain who the teased shooter is during the trailer and the culprit of the fire.

It would also mean that fans should expect Jack and Mel to be moving house very soon during the season.

One fan seemed to agree with this, saying: “I agree about the funeral, they are bringing Lily’s daughter Tara as a new character so it would make sense.

“Mel’s dreams of a farmhouse with kids may become true at some point!

However, not everyone agrees, with one that “the funeral is going to be Paige’s”, though anything is possible in the new season.

Netflix certainly thinks so, promising that it will be a twist-packed season” and that fans will be shocked by what happens during it.

The July 9 release date was the first surprise, with many fans expected the show to drop later in the year due to previous delays.

Many Netflix shows have suffered delays due to the ongoing pandemic, however, Virgin River fans won’t have to worry about an extra-long wait.

On top of this, there is more good news for fans, as Netflix

Fans quickly took to the comments of the season three trailer, with many of them similarly discussing what could be happening in season three and their love for the show.

One fan commented: “This is my comfort series. So great to watch. Nothing over the top just people and their normal lives. Love every bit. A great watch for a relaxing evening”

A second added: “OMGGGGG!!!!! So glad that S3 is coming out in July, and not Nov/Dec. Also, this is A LOT of Mel and Jack! :’)))))) Wuhoo, damn excited!

A third replied: “This is literally like one of the most beautiful series I’ve ever watched in my whole life.”

Virgin River is available to watch on Netflix.
