DUNDEE'S Adam Handling came joint-first in the first of four all-Scottish episode of Great British Menu 2022.
He managed to gain a perfect score of 10 for his fish dish, meaning he is one step closer to getting a spot at the coveted banquet.
Who is Adam Handling?
Adam Handling is a 33-year-old chef from Dundee, Scotland appearing on Great British Menu.
Eager not to attend university, he managed to get an apprenticeship as a chef at Gleneagles hotel in Perthshire, Scotland, age 16.
He had to go through four interviews before he was offered the apprenticeship.
Speaking about why they hired him, he said: "I’m a cheeky little bugger and I think that’s why they gave it to me.
"I’m brutally honest, very stubborn and I always want to be the very best at anything I do, and I think they liked that."
For the first nine months, Adam was only allowed to prepare vegetables.
But eventually he worked his way up to the grill and ran the section himself.
It was at this point that he'd gained the sort of expert training you can only get in prestigious kitchens like Gleneagles, and he was then ready to move on.
Following his departure, he worked as a sous chef at the Malmaison hotel in Newcastle, the youngest ever head chef at Fairmont St Andrews, and head chef at St Ermin’s Hotel in St James’ Park, London.
He then returned to Scotland to take on his first head chef position at the Fairmont St Andrews Hotel, where he worked for just over two years and earned 2 AA Rosettes for the restaurant.

What restaurants does Adam Handling have?
Adam has opened a string of restaurants under the Adam Handling Restaurant Group, starting with The Frog E1, which moved to Hoxton, before closing in 2020.
He then opened Frog by Adam Handling and Eve Bar in Covent Garden, alongside the now closed Adam Handling Chelsea at Belmond Cadogan.
Following this, he opened The Loch & the Tyne Old Windsor and Ugly Butterfly.
He recently won a Michelin star for his Covent Garden restaurant in the Michelin Guide for Great Britain and Ireland 2022.
What TV show has Adam Handling been in?
The chef appeared on MasterChef: The Professionals 2013.
He entered the sixth series and made it all the way to the final three.
This is where he was pipped to the post by the eventual winner Steven Edwards.
After appearing on MasterChef, it led Adam to the opportunity to get his name above the door at the St Ermin's restaurant, renamed Restaurant Adam Handling at Caxton.
Is Adam married and does he have children?
It is not publicly known if the Chef is married or has children.
He has also not mentioned anywhere about his marital status on the internet or even with the media.
