NCIS has introduced countless characters across its 18 seasons with some standing out more than others. Luca Scuito only appeared briefly in the show but has left a lasting impression on fans. But who plays the character in the show?
Who played Luca Sciuto in NCIS?
Luca Sciuto is played by Tyler Ritter in the show and appeared during one of the show’s major crossover events.
The actor has featured in countless fan-favourite projects and gave a memorable performance during the two episodes he appeared in.
Ritter appeared in Sister City Part One and Part Two in NCIS and NCIS: New Orleans, respectively.
The crossover happened back in 2016 and proved to be one of the more memorable events in the show’s history.
Ritter’s Sciuto was a chef and the adoptive brother of NCIS Forensic Scientist Abigail Sciuto (played by Pauley Perrette).
More recently, Ritter has appeared in the series Homecoming as Lane, however, most fans will recognise him from Arrow.
In the DC show, the star played Detective Billy Malone and was a regular recurring character throughout season five.
He is familiar with superhero projects, also featuring in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D in 2015 as Thomas Ward.
Rounding out his other appearances are the shows Merry Happy Whatever, The Good Doctor, Young & Hungry, and The McCarthys.
Ritter’s NCIS character actually appeared in two previous episodes earlier in NCIS and NCIS: New Orleans, however, the role was played by different actors.
It is unlikely Sciuto will return to the series, however, anything is now possible for season 19 of NCIS following some major casting news.
Series star Mark Harmon, who plays Agent Gibbs, will be taking a backseat during season 19, easing him out of the role.
Emily Wickersham also left the show during the season 18 finale, meaning Ellie Bishop will no longer be part of the NCIS team.
To address the changing cast, CBS has brought in Katrina Law who played Jessica Knight throughout season 18.
Joining her is Gary Cole as Agent Alden Park, a completely new character for NCIS and one that could be a replacement for Gibbs if Harmon decides to completely exit the show following season 19.
CBS made the announcement on Twitter in a post that read: “Gary Cole and Katrina Law are joining the cast of #NCIS! Watch Mondays at 9/8c this Fall on #CBS.”
Many have reacted to the casting news on Twitter, with fans sharing their excitement for the new stars joining the show.
One fan said: “Congrats on your promotion Kat. I’m happy for you!”
NCIS fans have a lot to look forward to with the release of NCIS Hawaii coming on September 3 later in 2021.
The show will introduce fans to the new series lead Jane Tennant played by Vanessa Lachey, the first female lead for the franchise.
NCIS season 19 doesn’t currently have a release date, however, it is excepted to launch this September alongside NCIS Hawaii.
