Lucas Hay makes his Hollyoaks return this week, but fans may notice something very different about him.
A new actor has taken over the role Lucas, son of the legendary Ste Hay (Kieron Richardson), from previous star William Hall, who played the character for nine years.
Lucas has been off our screens since late December, with William’s final scenes airing then.
The character has been mentioned on occasion since, with his return scenes set to air on Wednesday March 16 on E4, in an episode that can already be streamed on All4.
The introduction is incredibly subtle, with Lucas’ first scenes seeing him attend an assembly at the school conducted by new head teacher Nancy Osborne (Jessica Fox), who is less than pleased with how the kids have been lacking in respect as of late.
The teen will be front and centre of a big issue-led storyline moving forward, but if you’re a bit confused on why Lucas was recast and want to know all there is to know about the new actor playing the role then you need look no further, as we’ve got everything you need!
Why has the actor playing Lucas changed in Hollyoaks?
Former actor William Hall, who played Lucas for nine years, finished filming on the Channel 4 soap last year, bringing to an end his time in the eponymous village.
Metro.co.uk understands that an older actor was brought in to take over as Lucas is now set to feature in a huge issue-led storyline, one which will see Ste tested as a parent.
Lucas will also become close friends with a number of the other teens who live in the eponymous village, as he goes through all the trials and tribulations of student life.

William, 14, confirmed his departure in October last year, after his final scenes were filmed.
‘Thats a wrap on #lucashay,’ he wrote on Instagram at the time. ‘wow it’s been an amazing 9 years playing this character and not one moment has been bad.
‘Honestly, I am so happy to be able to say I have been part of the Hollyoaks family and although it is sad I’m leaving, I’m leaving with happy memories.’
Who plays the new Lucas in Hollyoaks?
Lucas Hay is now played by Oscar Curtis.
Discussing joining the Channel 4 soap, the 18-year-old said: ‘I’ve felt so welcome at Hollyoaks, the cast and crew feel like a real family.
‘‘My first day was so exciting and I’m ready for the fans of the show to see the new Lucas. You can definitely expect drama, emotions and everything in between.’
Oscar has already filmed a segment for the titles – and can be seen in the images above and below – but said segment will not feature on-screen until he after he makes his debut, so keep an eye out for that in the coming days.
Hollyoaks airs weeknights at 7pm on E4 or stream episodes first daily on All4.
