Who was Denholm Elliott?
Born on May 31, 1922, in Kensington, Denholm Elliott was an award winning English actor.
He appeared in numerous productions – both on stage and screen -receiving three Bafta awards for Trading Places (1983), A Private Function (1984), and Defence of the Realm (1986).
Denholm received an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of Mr Emerson in A Room with a View (1985).
He is also known for his performances in Alfie (1966), A Doll's House (1973), A Bridge Too Far (1977), Maurice (1987), September (1987), and Noises Off (1992).

But Denholm was best known for playing Marcus Brody in the Steven Spielberg's Indiana Jones films Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989).
In 1998 he was awarded a CBE by Queen Elizabeth II.

In 1962 he married American actress Susan Robinson, who he stayed with until he died.

From his second marriage to Susan, he had two children.
The couple had a son and a daughter called Mark and Jennifer.
Sadly Jennifer passed away in 2003.
What was Denholm Elliott's cause of death?
In 1987 Denholm was diagnosed with HIV.
He died of AIDS-related tuberculosis at his home in Santa Eulària des Riu on Ibiza on October 6, 1992, at the age of 70.
The late star's first wife Virginia said: "It is absolutely dreadful, but the person I am thinking of at the moment more than anybody is his wife. It must be terrible for her."
The actor's widow Susan set up a charity, the Denholm Elliott Project, and collaborated on his biography.
