Will Mellor put ‘wrong cat down’ as he shares tragic mix-up on BBC The One Show

Coronation Street star Will Mellor had The One Show fans in stitches after he recalled the horrific moment he accidentally put down a stranger’s cat.

During Friday’s (April 1) instalment of the popular BBC One teatime talk show, Alex Jones and Alex Scott welcomed the Two Pints of Larger star onto the show alongside actors Suranne Jones, Ralf Little and Hollywood heartthrob Chris Pine.

With a sofa full of animal lovers, Alex enquired on the star’s pets eagerly waiting to greet them at home, but viewers were shocked to hear about the 45-year-old's experience as a pet owner.

The TV hunk confessed how he had a love/hate relationship with his Bengal cat after it ran away from home at a young age and didn’t come home for nine months.

And the actor was devastated to learn that the cat has come home with throat cancer which forced the doting pet owner to put him down.

Little did he know that he had accidentally put a stranger's cat down after his real cat came waltzing through the house just two weeks later.
