Boy, 16, stabbed to death on bus 'in front of school children' as teen arrested

A TEEN boy has died after being stabbed on a bus in front of horrified school children.

Police were scrambled to Chadwell Heath in East London at around 3.55pm yesterday as kids made their way home.

The 16-year-old victim was rushed to hospital in a critical condition.

Sadly he couldn't be saved and died overnight, police confirmed.

An 18-year-old man was arrested close by on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in custody.

Locals have described how the horror unfolded on board the double decker bus as it made its way down the busy High Road.

One told The Evening Standard: "There were groups of boys fighting on and outside the bus. It was frantic, there was a lot of shouting.

"It was just after school and school kids were watching. It was horrible. The boy was left for dead and the others ran off.”

The Met confirmed a murder probe has now been launched following the boy's death overnight.

Chief Superintendent Paul Trevers of the East Area Command Unit Said: “Today a young man stabbed in Chadwell Heath has died of his injuries.

"The victim was only 16-years-old and I can only imagine his family’s anguish at this terrible time, my thoughts are with them, and with all those who have been affected.

"I know how deeply this will be felt in the local community and there will be extra officers patrolling to reassure you and answer your questions. Please do speak to the officers about your concerns, they are there to listen to you and do all they can to help.

"A person has been arrested on suspicion of murder and there will be a full investigation by homicide detectives."

The horror comes after five children as young as 12 were arrested after a 13-year-old boy was knifed in Worthing, West Sussex.
