An elderly couple whose bodies were found in their home may have been dead for some time, as police in Northern Ireland launched an investigation into what led to their deaths.
The PSNI said enquiries were ongoing after a man and a woman were found dead at the Greenan Road property in the Newry area of Co Down, on Thursday.
‘There are no further details at this time and an update will be provided in due course,’ a PSNI spokesperson said.
It has emerged however that the couple had not been seen ‘for some time’, SDLP councillor Declan McAteer told BBC Radio Ulster.
