The family of an ‘amazing’ 22-year-old who is in a coma after suffering from serious head injuries and a broken spine are desperately trying to raise £60,000 to get her on a flight home from Cyprus.
Ellie Horrocks, from Westhoughton, was rushed to hospital after her buggy overturned in the party town of Ayia Napa on Monday.
Her anguished family told how Ellie had hired a buggy to get to a spot to watch the sunset when an oncoming car forced her to swerve out of the way.
She was placed in a medically-induced coma at Nicosia Hospital after suffering from life threatening injuries to her head, spine and collarbone.
Her family are now anxiously trying to get her on a flight back to the UK.

Ellie’s aunt Sarah said she had been working on the Mediterranean island as a bar tender since May and was enjoying ‘experiencing life’.
‘She’s young, so she likes going out with her friends, she’s got loads and loads of friends, but she’s also just a very creative person.
‘She’s a really, really, well-loved girl,’ her aunt told the Manchester Evening News.
Ellie’s mother Leanne is currently staying near the hospital in Cyprus but this ‘parents’ worst nightmare’ continues as she can only visit her for an hour a day.
‘Her condition is just so unknown at the moment. It is awful – none of us are sleeping,’ Sarah added.
On the GoFundMe page, Ellie’s mother said: ‘We urgently want to get her home to Manchester, to be treated in a specialist neurology hospital where she can heal and hopefully recover close to her family and friends.
‘The cost of repatriation from Nicosia Hospital in Cyprus to the UK is significant and not covered by Ellie’s insurance and this has meant we have had to reach out for help.’
So far, the page has raised over £40,000. This money will go towards the cost of an air ambulance and the medical fees in Cyprus.

Sarah said the family wanted to thank everyone who had donated so far, saying the family had been ‘overwhelmed by the messages of support, even from strangers’.
‘All the donations and the kindness everyone has shown has just been incredible. So we want to thank them all,’ she added.
