THE family of a 13-year-old boy who died after his motorbike crashed into a tree has paid tribute to their "diamond" who was "loved by everyone".

Mason Wright was tragically killed after the collision on a former motocross site in South Bank, Middlesbrough near the A66.

His loved ones have now spoken of how he "sadly lost his life doing what he's loved doing since he was three years old," on June 19.

The youngster's crash triggered a huge response from emergency services, with crews from the Great North Air Ambulance, Cleveland Police, North East Ambulance Service, Cleveland Fire Brigade, and Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team racing to the scene.

Mountain rescue volunteers and firefighters were able to treat Mason before stretchering him to an ambulance.

He was then taken to Middlesbrough's James Cook University Hospital with serious injuries, where he later passed away.

Mason's heartbroken family have since paid tribute to their late son in a poignant message remembering "our boy".

"Our boy Mason, 13 years young, sadly lost his life doing what he’s loved doing since he was three years old.

"He was loved by everyone he crossed paths with in the short time he has been with us all. All our love our diamond from dad, mam ginger and your little mate Kenton."

The touching tribute was released alongside the first image of the teen.

A spokesperson for Cleveland Police said: "Our thoughts are with his friends and family at this extremely difficult time.

"His family would request privacy to allow them to grieve."

A spokesperson for the Great North Air Ambulance also confirmed they had attended the crash.

 "We were called at 6.05pm on Saturday to Middlesbrough," they said.

"We airlifted a patient from the scene. We had a doctor and a paramedic onboard and flew to James Cook Hospital."
