Fears grow for missing 12-year-old girl who took train to town 15 miles away from home as police issue appeal

Fears are growing for a missing 12-year-old girl who was last seen boarding a train to a town 15 miles from her home on Tuesday.

Police are appealing for the public’s help to help trace Jamie-Lee Harvey who is currently missing from Ayr, on the southwest coast of Scotland.

Jamie-Lee was last seen around 3.30pm on Tuesday, March 14, at Ayr train station, boarding a train towards Glasgow.

Officers believe she left the train at Irvine, and is currently in the Irvine area.

Jamie-Lee is described as being 5ft tall, of medium build, with long light brown-coloured hair.

She was last seen wearing a black puffer jacket, black jumper, black leggings and black trainers.

Sergeant Fraser Chisholm of Ayr Police Office said: ‘Our enquiries are ongoing and we are appealing to anyone who may have seen Jamie-Lee or has any information on her whereabouts to contact us.

‘We understand that Jamie-Lee may have frequented the Irvine area and was last seen boarding a train from Ayr.

‘We urge anyone who may have had a sighting of her to come forward.’

Police have asked with any information is asked to contact police via 101 quoting reference number 2777 of 14 March 2023.
