HEAVY snow has forced schools across the UK to close today. 

Thousands of pupils will miss class amid the wintry conditions.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for the white stuff, which lasts until Friday at 6pm.

Several inches could fall in the worst affected areas, which includes the Midlands, northern England and Scotland.

Forecasters have urged motorists to take care on the roads and advised anyone to check their routes before travelling. 

Those with children should consultant with individual schools or their local council.
