“Indooroopilly State High School will be closed on Friday, July 30 as parents and staff have been advised by email,” the voice said.
“Further communication will be provided by email as it becomes available. Thank you.”
Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk confirmed the case caused the closure of the school.
“We’re just double-checking that it’s not a false positive and I think we have to absolutely confirm that it is a COVID-19 case but you’ve got to take these precautions,” she told ABC Brisbane.
“I think they’ll move to testing close contacts as soon as possible.
“We are told there is no association with any international travel so that is a bit of a concern.”
Ms Palaszczuk urged other nearby schools to go about their normal school duties.
“I don’t think they need to worry at this stage,” she said.
“The student was at Indooroopilly [State High School]. We’ve done this before.
“We’re focusing on that school … I think all the other schools need to go about their normal business, and we’ll be getting on top of this very, very quickly.”
More to come.
