Jamie Theakston in row with 'famous neighbours' over plans to build a house in the garden of his London home

FURIOUS neighbours have hit out TV's Jamie Theakston after the Heart FM presenter unveiled plans to build a £2.5m family home in his GARDEN.

The millionaire telly host has been accused of "cultural vandalism" after applying to squeeze the four-bedroom pad next to his Chiswick mansion.

Among the furious residents was the son of film legend Richard Attenborough – who hit out at Theakston for planning to tear up the "wonderful greenery" in his garden.

He blasted to MailOnline: "It is not just me but almost every neighbour in the street has written to object to the building of this home.

Our house looks out over wonderful greenery and trees. If this new house is built all that will disappear.

"'We will have loss of light and privacy but feel there is just going to be a negative impact on our street.

"The whole point of a Conservation area is that the greenery and trees are preserved. I know the trees are in Mr Theakston's garden, but they still come under the remit of a Conservation area.

"I can't see how the council can allow them to be cut down".

The house – which Theakston has supposedly told neighbours he plans to flog – could fetch up to £2.5m.

It would boast four bedrooms, three bathrooms, a utility area, bike storage, and off-street parking, and would be built in the garden of the five-bed mansion he recently tried to sell for £6.5m.
