Man given suspended jail term for harassing and abusing his girlfriend goes on Facebook to grizzle that he hates the mugshot photo of him police put out after the case

- Now he has complained that the mugshot of him published on Facebook by South Yorkshire Police doesn’t show his best side
A Barnsley man who pleaded guilty to harassment has complained about the picture of him police used to announce the verdict.
Liam Bannister, 21, was on February 11 given a suspended sentence for domestic abuse offences after he called his ex-girlfriend over 1,000 times within 21 days in a shocking barrage of harassment following the breakdown of their relationship.
But when South Yorkshire Police posted the results of the case on Facebook with a mugshot of Bannister looking particularly dishevelled, the offender spoke out to say he wasn’t happy.
He voiced his complaints in a Facebook post and a comment on the police’s post – both of which have since been deleted.
Bannister wrote: ‘Anyone who knows me knows am not what am getting made out to be by south yorkshire police, bad old photo anorl proper had by pants down was on run for a week no sleep nothing.’

In a comment on the police post, he also said: ‘This is harassment at it’s finest, you feel the need to paint a bad picture of me online, when all the facts haven’t been stated on your post.’
Bannister claimed the police’s post was ‘over-exaggerated and massively deceiving’.
He received a nine-month suspended sentence for the offences at Sheffield Crown Court on February 11.
Bannister pleaded guilty to harassment and perverting the course of justice.
After the conviction, PLC Abigail Taylor said: ‘Bannister is responsible for a sustained campaign of harassment against his victim, and I wish to thank her for her courage in reporting this to police.
‘Domestic abuse is a crime that can affect anyone and it comes in numerous forms and is not necessarily just physical abuse.
‘Bannister has shown total disregard to his victim throughout, allowing her to attend court before finally admitting to his offences.
Bannister wrote: ‘Anyone who knows me knows am not what am getting made out to be by south yorkshire police, bad old photo anorl proper had by pants down was on run for a week no sleep nothing.’
‘I hope she finds reassurance that Bannister has been punished for his actions, and that she can now take steps in moving forward and recovering from the abuse she suffered.
‘Domestic abuse will not be tolerated in South Yorkshire. If someone controls what you eat, what your wear, where you go or who you speak to – this is coercive control and it is a crime.
