Meghan Markle 'could be whisked away for 40th birthday getaway by Prince Harry' to spend quiet celebrations with kids

MEGHAN Markle could be whisked away for a special 40th birthday getaway by Prince Harry to enjoy a quiet celebration with their kids, claims a report.

Mystery remains over her exact plans as, elsewhere, there are claims the Sussexes could be organising a low-key party with famous A-lister pals, such as George and Amal Clooney.

Unnamed sources have told Page Six in New York that Prince Harry might take her from their Montecito, California, mansion on an intimate getaway.

Despite reports to the contrary, the royal couple don't intend celebrating Meghan's milestone 40th with a big party, the sources also claimed.

They also dismissed suggestions that a celeb party planner has been hired for “low-key” 40th birthday celebrations, with Oprah and the Clooneys on her guest list.

The sources added that the Sussexes were planning to mark the day with just the immediate family, after the recent birth of their daughter Lilibet.

Her birthday on Wednesday comes amid a surge of Delta Covid cases in California.

Coronavirus infections in the state have rocketed from fewer than 900 a day at the end of May to more than 9,000 a day in August, shows state data.

But celebrity biographer Tom Bower recently wrote in the Sun that "dark clouds" loom over her birthday party guest list – should the couple host an event.

Mr Bower, who is currently penning a tell-all book about Meghan, added: "The Sussexes’ celebrity neighbours, agents, lawyers and PR spin doctors will flock to their Montecito haven.

"But there will be no birthday cards from Meghan’s father and siblings, nor probably from her in-laws in London.

"There will certainly be no adoring congratulations from the small army of former friends the Duchess has shunned over the past 15 years, including her ex-husband, childhood confidants and discarded London associates."

'SILENT DORIA'

He added: "Sincere family love, wishing her another 40 healthy years, will be limited to her mother, the permanently silent Doria. Yet Meghan probably won’t care a jot.

"Self-important Meghan seems to believe her needs are more important than those of others — most famously her father Thomas Markle.

"America and Britain are dotted with people baffled by her abrupt termination of their previously close relationship.

"Meghan appears to show little remorse about hurting them."

There won't be adoring congratulations from the small army of former friends the Duchess has shunned.

Mr Bower said that her 40th could mark the launch of a political career – another often-repeated rumour.

She has been secretly building links to members of the Democratic Party in a bid to anchor her political aspirations, sources close to her have revealed.

He also wrote: "On Wednesday, celebrating her 40th birthday in Los Angeles rather than London will be a watershed.

"Blowing out the candles on a Californian cake will cement the relaunch of Meghan Markle.

"The celebrity at the height of her powers will wish for a spectacular new beginning."

It comes as Prince Harry has reportedly ordered a fabulous – and expensive – 40th birthday cake from a bespoke bakery that charges more than £160.

Tatler claims that Harry has ordered a special cake from Santa Barbara bakery Posies & Sugar.

The posh bakery has a speciality of so-called ‘naked’ cakes where some of the cake's layers are visible underneath the icing, while brightened up with beautiful, and colourful fresh flowers.

A glance at the website shows that a three-tiered masterpiece, serving up to 30 guests, costs $225 (£160).
