Migrant kids, gas attack victims and stealthy all-female anti-poaching soldiers among stunning nominees for World Press Photo of the Year

STRIKING photographs of migrant children, gas attack victims and stealthy all-female anti-poaching soldiers are among the nominees for 2019 World Press Photo of the Year.

For the 69th year, The World Press Photo Foundation has announced photographers who have been nominated in a range of categories.


This year, 43 photographers coming from 25 different countries have been selected from at least 80,000 entries worldwide.

The winners will be revealed at a stunnign awards ceremony on April 11 in Amsterdam.

And each winner will win a cash prize of 10,000 euro, along with getting their journey to the event paid for.

The three nominees for the World Press Story of the Year are Marco Gualazzini, from Italy, Pieter Ten Hoopen from Sweden and Lorenzo Tugnoli from Itali.

Gualazini is the first photographer to be nominated for both the World Press Photo and World Press Story of The Year.
