A mountain rescue team were called out to save a stranded dog – and ended up carrying the stricken animal to safety on a stretcher.
The Edale Mountain Rescue team were called out via South Yorkshire Police after Jess, a brown Labrador, became unwell and unable to continue her walk.
Due to the rough terrain her walker could not carry her back to the road, and so brave rescuers wrapped her up and carried her back to the road on a stretcher.
The 11-year-old pooch was out with walker Amyleigh Watts at Fox Hagg Nature Reserve in the Rivelin Valley area of Sheffield, South Yorkshire, yesterday.

Emergency rescue teams were called out at 1.14pm.
Edale MRT posted the incident to their Facebook page saying: ‘A call from South Yorkshire Police to the Fox Hagg area above Rivelin Reservoir.
‘Jess the Labrador has become unwell and was unable to continue her walk. Due to her location and weight, Jess’s walker was unable to carry her back to the road.
‘We were more than happy to assist and a posse of team members were soon on their way to meet up with Jess.
‘After some soothing words from the team’s wannabe Dr Dolittle, Jess was wrapped in a casualty bag and strapped onto a stretcher before being carried out back to the road.
‘Thanks to The Three Merry Lads Public House for allowing us to use their car park.’
Due to the terrain her walker could not carry her back to the road so brave rescuers wrapped her in casualty blankets and carried the stricken dog back to awaiting vehicles in a nearby pub car park
Facebook user Jen thanked the mountain rescue team, saying: ‘Jess is my little girl and she is getting old now. She just likes to keep us on our toes’
Walker Amyleigh thanked the team for their help adding that Jess is fine and well.
She said: ‘Thank you so much for helping her.
‘She is absolutely fine now, and is having a well deserved rest on her electric blanket.
‘I’m still recovering, however. You are all heroes, thanks so so so so so much.’
Animal lovers commented on the incredible rescue.

‘Jess is my little girl and she is getting old now. She just likes to keep us on our toes.’
Ferai Robson said: ‘The work they do is just incredible. I hope we can all donate and or make monthly donations as one day it could be any of us that need them.’
