My sick ex tried to have sex with me in a car park two hours before he battered Sabina Nessa to death

SABINA Nessa's remorseless killer tried to have sex with his estranged wife on the day he murdered the primary school teacher.

Koci Selamaj asked Ionela Gherghisan to meet him in the car park of the hotel she worked at – then battered Sabina to death just two hours later.

Ms Gherghisan told the Daily Mail: "He tried to have sex with me in his car in the car park, but I said no so he left and I went back to work."

The cleaner and part-time belly dancer said she was terrified of violent and abusive Selamaj but never dreamed he could kill so was distraught when she discovered what he had done.

"I have a lot of pain in my heart and feel very alone with no help," she said.

The night before Selamaj, 36, was arrested – and more than a week after Sabina's murder – Ms Gherghisan returned to the flat the former couple had shared in Eastbourne, East Sussex.

She also spoke to her ex-partner on the phone – but said he showed "no sign" he had committed murder or any indication of guilt.

She said: "He was on the phone and he was lucid – there was no sign of what he had done in his behaviour.

"The only thing that was strange was that he had new shoes, and he rarely changes his shoes.

"He buys new ones only when the ones he has are broken."

Selamaj had worn "distinctive trainers" with a thick white sole when he targeted Sabina in the horrific attack.

When the shoes were found, forensic tests found spots of Sabina's blood on them.

The primary school teacher had been walking to meet a friend moments from her home when Selamaj used a a 2ft emergency metal triangle to batter her to death.

The 28-year-old's body was found just 200ft from her front door.

Ms Gherghisan, 45, alleged her former husband had choked her several times in the weeks before the killing – but added: "It's very hard for me to find the words to say to the family of Sabina.

"I am just as shocked by what he did as they are."

She apologised for the pain he had caused and said: "I never believed he was capable of murder."

'DISGUSTING ANIMAL'

Chilling CCTV footage from the day of the brutal killing shows the monster crossing paths with Sabina, before checking that he wasn’t being watched.

He then sprints after his victim, who was a complete stranger to him and was "oblivious" he was behind her.

The twisted killer this week refused to leave his cell to face Sabina's family in court.

He faces life in prison after pleading guilty to the murder on September 17 last year.
