Couple suspected of leaving gastropub without paying £88 bill WANTED by police as detectives release CCTV images of pair they want to speak to
- The pair allegedly left their £88 bill unpaid at The Denison Arms, North Yorkshire
- Police have released CCTV footage of couple who could ‘help’ the investigation
A couple suspected of leaving a gastropub without paying their £88 bill are now wanted by police.
The pair allegedly failed to settle their hefty tab at The Denison Arms, near Scarborough, North Yorkshire, before leaving in a red Citroen Berlingo car on June 25.
But North Yorkshire Police has now released CCTV imagery of a couple it wants to speak to who it believes will ‘help with the investigation’.
The force also asked residents to keep an eye out for the suspected couple as it continues to investigate the alleged dine and dash.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said: ‘Officers are asking members of the public to get in touch if they recognise the people in the images as they believe they will have information that will help the investigation.’
The pub, located in the picturesque village of East Ayton, offers a range of ‘locally sourced signature steaks’, priced between £16.95 and £18.95 from its charcoal grill.
It also has a selection of classic dishes, including beer battered fish and chips and Breaded scampi and chips, priced at £13.95, along with a full drinks menu.
In a separate incident this summer, a family-of-six allegedly ran up a £215 bill at The Fisherman’s Arms in Penzance, Cornwall, in June, and walked off without paying after saying they were going for a cigarette.
But the family, who were caught on CCTV ‘doing a runner’, settled their tab after they were caught and even overpaid as a ‘gesture of goodwill’.
One of the people caught on CCTV is believed to be a man named Edward O’Reilly, 23, who is known as Ned, MailOnline revealed previously.

He is the managing director of a company called Kings Landscaping and he lives in a static caravan on a traveller site next to the A38 in Plympton, Devon.
A number of people came forward to identify Mr O’Reilly in the footage, although the businessman is believed to deny that he was at the pub on Sunday and insists it is not him on CCTV.
A Plymouth resident who hired Kings Landscaping to work on his drive instantly recognised Mr O’Reilly from the CCTV pictures. He said: ‘I remember him well. He tarmacked my drive.’
After the dine and dash, the pub’s manager posted CCTV footage on Twitter that went viral – since then she has received a number of calls to identify him.
The group of six – two men, two women and two children – are said to have arrived at the pub around 5pm and stayed for three hours.
They downed four Baileys White Russians and two Cosmopolitan cocktails as well as a cider, three pints of coca cola and three starters, six main courses and two desserts to rack up the mammoth bill.

And in October last year, another group were caught dining-and-dashing after racking up a £270 bill at The Sutton Arms in Faceby, North Yorkshire.
They pre-ordered three lobsters, three fillet steaks and spent over £70 at the bar before skipping out on the tab.
CCTV footage of the family showed one woman, wearing pink activewear, pacing out the front of the pub as she waits for a man to join her.
The pair then disappear together as another young man and woman hurriedly walk out of the venue.
At the time, the public call out has attracted attention from customers on social media who have accused the group of being ‘shameful’.
‘They should be ashamed of themselves,’ one person said. Another added: ‘It’s a struggle enough without behaviour like this. This is bang out of order.’
But others suggested it may have been an honest mistake in which different parties got confused about who was picking up the bill.
