HORRIFIED residents heard "screams" after a woman and three children were found "stabbed" in a Huddersfield home.
Officers were called to a house on Walpole Road at 8.02am by the ambulance service and police have since arrested a woman on suspicion of attempted murder.
Cops found three children with serious injuries and have confirmed they were "stabbed" with a bladed weapon.
The two boys and one girl are understood to all be under the age of seven.
A woman was also found with the same type of wounds.
The four of them were rushed to hospital for treatment.
West Yorkshire Police have confirmed a woman has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
DCI Sam Freeman, of the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, said: "Enquiries are ongoing today into what has clearly been a serious and distressing incident in Huddersfield and we fully appreciate the concern it will cause in the local community.
"Detectives are conducting enquiries to determine the exact circumstances of what has taken place and an arrest has now been made as part of those investigations."
Chief Inspector Rebecca Calpin of Kirklees Police, said: "Reassurance patrols are talking place in the local area by officers from the Huddersfield Neighbourhood Policing Team and will be continuing throughout the day as Kirklees officers work to support colleagues from our HMET team."

Police officers from the West Yorkshire Police HMET (Homicide and Major Enquiry Team) are now at the scene.
Forensics teams dressed in white overalls were also pictured on the road.
A cordon is now place on Walpole Road with officers stood outside the property.
Natalia Skorek, 23, who lives a few doors away from the address, told how she and her mother were shocked to hear loud screams this morning.
“My mum heard some screaming around 7am,” she said.
“But we thought it was the neighbours on the other side because they have kids and sometimes hear them shouting.
“So we didn’t think anything of it.
“It was only later we found what had happened.”
A neighbour told YorkshireLive they saw scores of emergency service vehicles at the scene.
She said: "I saw loads of ambulances, doctors and police cars. I saw blue lights and heard sirens – I thought there had been a shooting or something."
One neighbour, who didn’t wish to be named, said the woman had lived at the address with her husband for around two years and they had three children.
“I think the husband is a taxi driver,” she said.
“One of the children is just a few months old, the other two are older.”
Another neighbour said she didn’t know the family but the incident has caused her “great upset”.
Rehzhin Amad, 30, said: “When I found out what had happened I got so emotional and just started crying.
“All I could do was pray for them.”
One, who didn’t wish to be named, said: “I saw the two older children being carried into the ambulance.
“Then the mum came out and she had a blanket wrapped around her body.
“It was really upsetting to see.”

West Yorkshire Police said: "Police received a report of concern for safety from the ambulance service at 08:02am this morning.
"A scene remains in place at the address and initial enquiries are underway to establish the circumstances of what took place."
