'RIP my boy': Boxer Dillian Whyte shares tribute to drill rapper Perm

Boxer Dillian Whyte’s promoter’s son is killed in Brixton gang shootout: Victim is named alongside innocent Deliveroo rider who was on his last delivery of night – weeks before flight home to Brazil

  • Dillian Whyte’s friend today announced the death of his son, the drill rapper Perm, in a post on Instagram
  • Dean shared a photograph of Perm with the caption: ‘RIP my boy. Daddy loves u. Life has changed forever’
  • Perm was a drill rapper from south London and has been praised as a ‘pioneer’ in the genre of his music

The two victims of a gangland shooting in south London have today been named as the drill rapper son of a well-known boxing promoter and a tragic 21-year-old delivery driver just minutes from finishing his shift.

Rapper Perm, the son of Dean Whyte, a close friend of the British boxing heavyweight Dillian Whyte, was gunned down by a shooter in Brixton last night following a two-vehicle pursuit.

The car chase ended in the tragic death of delivery driver Guilherme Messias Da Silva, who was riding his delivery scooter when he was struck by a vehicle containing the rapper.

According to the police, the drill star then jumped out the vehicle and tried to outrun his gun-wielding pursuer, but was shot down by his killer – who then escaped the scene.

Today boxing manager Dean – who often refers to the heavyweight fighter as his brother – announced the news on Instagram today.

Taking to Instagram with an emotional post, Dean, who has become famous in his own right for helping to promote Dillian’s fights, wrote: ‘R.I.P my boy. Daddy loves u. Life has changed forever’.

The heavyweight boxer, 34, this morning shared the Instagram story with his own, adding a number of broken heart emojis.

It comes after colleagues of Deliveroo driver Guilhereme today claimed he was just minutes away from finishing his shift when he was killed in Sunday’s gangland shooting in Brixton.

Friends say the delivery driver was dropping off his final takeaway of the evening when he was fatally injured during the attack in Brixton, south London, last night.

Today tributes have been paid to Guilherme, who is believed to have lived in the UK for the last two years, having moved from his hometown of Petrolina de Goias, near the Brazilian capital Brasilia.

Fellow driver Paulo Silva, 42, described him as a ‘good boy’ and ‘young’ and said he had been planning to go back to Brazil in December.

He said: ‘He was a very nice guy. It is so sad. He had planned to return to Brazil soon but it will not happen now.’

Another one of his colleagues from Deliveroo, who did not want to be named, also said he was a ‘very good guy who had become an innocent victim’.

A tribute to Guilherme posted on social media in Portuguese by a close friend said: ‘Yet another asphalt warrior, humble boy, he lost his life working during a gunfight between gangs in Brixton, he was fatally hit by the thieves’ car.

‘This first world country that many outsiders see is not just a bed of roses. This here is a daily struggle away from the family, exposed to daily dangers. God comfort the family and friends. God welcome you with open arms boy.’

Meanwhile, Perm only yesterday took to Instagram to share a post with friends and fellow artists, with the post: ‘Ran thru the dirt but came out cleaner they wouldn’t get it.’

The post has today been flooded with tributes, including by fellow rap artists and fans. One wrote: ‘Rip, one of the pioneers of the drill scene forever.’

Others to comment include Brixton-based rapper M24, as well as Sneakbo, who shared a love-heart emoji.

Only yesterday, Perm took to Instagram to share a post with friends and fellow artists, with the post: ‘Ran thru the dirt but came out cleaner they wouldn’t get it.’

Perm’s death comes after he released a new album last month, named ‘Germs’. He had promoted the video on Youtube, including scenes from the Notre Damn estate in Clapham, south London.

Another musician, Nadia Rose, wrote: ‘Can’t believe this. RIP.’ Another added: ‘One of the first drill artists I’ve listened too back in 016/017. Rest easy.’

Perm was a member of the CT drill group, who share their name with a gang of the same name, known as ClapTown (CT). Claptown operate around the Lambeth area, specifically in the Clapham High Road area. They are known to have bitter feuds with other Lambeth gangs, particularly the ’67’ gang, based around Brixton Hill.

The rivalry had been partly documented in drill music videos posted on YouTube.

His father is the well-known boxing manager Dean Whyte, a close friend of British heavyweight Dillian Whyte.

Though Dean and Dillian have often referred to each other as brothers, the pair are, in reality, good friends. They have also worked together on Dillian’s boxing career.

Dean, whose real name is Lemar Scott, runs boxing management firm Blvckbox Management.

He famously clashed with John Fury, the father of British boxer Tyson Fury, ahead of Dillian’s Wembley fight with Tyson earlier this year.

The pair were seen jokingly shadow-boxing together in April following a war-of-words.

Speaking after the friendly incident, Dean told TalkSport: ‘I had a little bit of banter. I had a little go with John, but we shook hands, and everything is in the past.’

Tyson Fury went on to win the fight by a sixth round technical knockout in front of a packed-out Wembley stadium.

Last night, one friend of the Dean’s son said he was ‘shocked’ at the news of his death. He told MailOnline: ‘He’s well known and said he was related to a very famous boxer. He was with another drill rapper that night. I’m shocked.’

It comes as residents near to the scene of the fatal gun attack on Railton Road, Brixton, say at least 12 shots were fired during the shocking incident, which took place around 7.50pm last night.

The Met Police are yet to release officials details about the victims and no arrests have yet been made. The shooting took place on yet another weekend of sickening gun and knife violence in ‘Wild West’ London.

Earlier on Sunday, a man was stabbed to death in Wembley, while a 32-year-old man was killed during a knife attack near Waterloo Station on Saturday.

The fatal attacks also come just days after two men were brutally gunned down in Ilford, east London, on Tuesday, with no arrests yet made. A third man also suffered serious injuries.

None of the incidents have been linked by police, while officers are yet to make an arrest in three of the four incidents.

Last night emergency services, including firearms officers, London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance rushed to Railton Road, a residential road in Brixton.

Police say they found two men, both aged in their 20s, were found injured. Despite the efforts of emergency services, the men were pronounced dead at the scene.

A spokesperson for the Met Police said: ‘At this early stage, detectives believe two cars were driving in the Railton Road area when one of the cars was in collision with a moped before further colliding with parked vehicles. The rider of the moped died as a result of his injuries.

‘A man from the car involved in the collision got out of the vehicle and was pursued by a male, armed with a firearm, from the second car. The fleeing male was shot and he died at the scene.

‘The gunman returned to his car and left the scene. Work continues to identify and inform next of kin and formal identification awaits.’

Today, a white forensic tents had been put up at the scene on Monday, where debris could be seen strewn across the road.

There were two crashed vehicles – a silver car which had lost one of its tyres and a moped. A 322 bus was left parked within the police cordon.

Local resident Sebastian Morrison last night told MyLondon that he believed the crash took place after 12 gunshots were heard.

He said: ‘I came across the scene when I went to the shop so I’m not a direct witness. I spoke to a few locals who did hear and see some of it.’

He added: ‘Shots were heard and a policewoman at scene told me it was a shooting. 12 shots were heard by locals, fire exchanged between a pair on a moped and people in a car. The car is crashed at the scene.’

Another to comment on the incident was Gregory Osefoh, 59, who works at the Stanley Mini Market on Railton Road. He said he was not working at the store when the incident happened.

Upon hearing about the attack, he said: ‘(I was) a combination of upset, shocked and highly disappointed that people could take away other people’s life; the life they did not create. There’s absolutely no reason for that.

Their next of kin are yet to be informed and police are awaiting formal identification

Mr Osefoh has been in the area for 15 years and said: ‘We have never seen any shooting around here.’

The next of kin of the two men are yet to be informed and police are awaiting formal identification, with post-mortem examinations to be held in due course. No arrests have yet been made.

Chief Superintendent Colin Wingrove of the Central South Command Unit, responsible for policing Lambeth and Southwark, said: ‘I am shocked and saddened by this incident. Our thoughts are with the families and friends of the two young men who have tragically lost their lives.

‘This incident will cause a great deal of concern throughout the local community and across London. ‘We are supporting Specialist Crime detectives, who are working at pace to confirm the specific sequence of events and identify and arrest those responsible.

‘Local officers are on the scene and patrolling the local area to speak to local residents, seek witnesses and provide visible reassurance. I would urge anyone with any information however small to come forward to help bring whoever is responsible to justice.’

Armed officers and paramedics raced to the scene, inside a Victorian terraced property on Henley Road, Ilford at around 12.16am on Tuesday. One victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The other died a short time later.

Neighbours told MailOnline that the sound of nearby Diwali fireworks masked the noise of gunshots at the suspected ‘drugs den’. But one eyewitness claims they saw cars approach the property before firing on the trio.

Another resident told the Telegraph how they had spotted a man wearing a ‘black Joker-style mask’ running through nearby gardens shortly after the shocking attack.

The Met said officers were ‘working around the clock to find those responsible’ but no arrests had been made.

Detective Chief Inspector Chris Wood said: ‘This was an unspeakable act of extreme violence that has devastated two families and sent shock waves throughout the community.

‘The suspects responsible for this horrific act are violent criminals and it is important that they are not protected by a wall of silence,’ he added.
