Teen boy and woman among three arrested after man, 62, stabbed four times in Aldi carpark | The Sun

A TEENAGE boy and a woman are among three people arrested after a man was stabbed four times in an Aldi carpark.

It is understood the victim, 62, was walking to his car when he was attacked on Tuesday around 4.25pm.

The incident happened at the supermarket in Salford, Greater Manchester.

Despite his injuries not thought to be life threatening, the victim remains in intensive care.

Cops have arrested a woman, 42, a man, 20, and a teenager, 17, in connection.

Greater Manchester Police said: "Salford detectives have this morning, January 12, arrested 3 persons in connection with the incident: a 42 year female, a 20 year male and a 17 year old male.

"They have all been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder and the attempted murder of the victim.

"GMP continues to appeal to members of the public to come forward if they believe they may have any information about this incident."

It was believed the motive behind the attack was to steal the man's shopping – but this has since been ruled out.

Detective Superintendent Ryan Davies said: “Whilst we have arrested three persons, the investigation remains in its early stages. We are keeping an open mind.

"Our investigations to date have not found evidence to suggest that the victim was robbed or that stealing anything from him was the motive for the attack.

"Our assessment remains that the victim was purposely followed and targeted.

"On that basis, we do not currently believe there is any wider risk to the community.

"We have a team of detectives dedicated to investigating numerous lines of enquiry in an effort to establish the motive and bring any offenders to justice.

"Uniformed and detective officers continue to patrol the local area, carry out further enquiries and are providing reassurance to the local community.

"I once again urge anyone who was in the vicinity of Salford Precinct on the afternoon of Tuesday 10th January, in particular between 4pm and 5pm, and who saw anyone acting suspiciously or out of place, either near there or in the vicinity of Aldi, Heywood Way; or who witnessed the incident taking place; or who witnessed the aftermath of the incident; or who saw anyone running – please come forward without delay and talk to us in confidence."
