Teenagers as young as 14 ‘hide in pub fearing they’ll be stabbed’ by London gangs as businesses shut up shop blaming increasing crime in the capital

A manager of a pub in has revealed teenagers as young as 14 have been seeking refuge in their building over fears of being stabbed.

Khaitee Mills, manager of The Morgan Arms pub in Tower Hamlets, said she has helped to hide teenagers who were in fear of their lives from another group.

The pub boss said youths on stolen Deliveroo bikes were terrorising the neighbourhood. 

This comes just days after a 17-year-old boy was knifed to death following a ‘machete brawl’ in east London.

Speaking to MyLondon, Ms Mills said: ‘There’s been a couple of instances where two or three young kids have come to hide in the back of the pub.

‘We tried to communicate with them, but they’d just say ‘we don’t want to talk, just need to hide’. It makes me feel a bit uneasy. But, obviously, we have like a duty to protect people here,’ 

‘They [were being followed] by some of the guys with balaclava face coverings on bikes, some [of which appeared to be] Deliveroo bikes, hanging around outside looking for them. Eventually, they dispersed and the kids left.’

Ms Mills described the group, who were hiding in the pub, as around 14 to 15 years of age.

She described multiple occasions where teenagers were fleeing from danger in the pub, including an incident where one had his bicycle stolen after being pursued by a group of adults. 

Intensifying gang-related violence in Tower Hamlets has also left business owners on the brink.

Daryll White, who owns S-A-N-D Grocery store in the area, told MyLondon that he was planning on shutting up shop amid increasing crime rates. 

On September 4 a 17-year-old boy was fatally stabbed less than two minutes walk away from Mr White’s store following a large altercation.

Shae Gordon, 17, from Enfield, was killed during the large street brawl which reportedly involved ‘100 men’, some armed with machetes.

Met Police officers were called to the scene on Lichfield Road, E3, just after midnight on September 4 and found two teenagers with stab wounds. 

Shae was taken to hospital but pronounced dead at just before 2am. The second teenager remains in critical condition following the stabbing.

Officers arrested an an 18-year-old man on suspicion of violent disorder, who remains in custody.

On the same day, 29-year-old Maximillian Kusi-Owusuwas shot dead on Kensington High Street in west London.

Police rushed to reports of gunshots in High Street Kensington, at its junction Warwick Road, west London , at around 2.02am yesterday morning where they found a man believed to be in his 20s having suffered gunshot wounds.

He was given first aid at the scene and rushed to a central London hospital but was pronounced dead at 5.32am.

Tributes have been paid to the rapper who has been described as ‘extremely talented’ and energetic.

Shocking footage showed how a large group of thugs viciously beat a woman as she lays in the street as violent crime and disorder surge across the capital

On August 27, a group of thugs were seen beating a young woman as she lay in the street.

The lawless mob had earlier raided a convenience store for sweets and alcohol and smashed doors and windows, a shopkeeper said.

Cameras caught the youths as they surrounded the 19-year-old woman outside a newsagent in South Norwood, London.

The gang knocked the woman to the ground where she tried to cover her head as around a dozen people punched and kicked her.

‘She was taken to hospital where her injuries were assessed as not life threatening.’
