A TV engineer told last night how he saved soccer legend Glenn Hoddle’s life after his collapse in a studio.
Simon Daniels, 48, performed CPR to resuscitate the ex-England boss, 61, when a cardiac arrest stopped his heart for 60 seconds.
He broke seven of Glenn’s ribs in his first real-life CPR — just after the icon filmed Robbie Savage’s BT Sport show.
The soundman, recalling the drama for the first time, said: “He was playing keepy-uppy with Robbie. Then I heard someone shout for help.
“I could see someone lying on the floor.
“My instinct was to run over and see if I could help. It was Glenn Hoddle lying on his back.”
'HE HAD NO PULSE'
He performed chest compressions and used a defibrillator to jolt Glenn back to life after noticing he had no pulse.
Simon, of Aylesbury, Bucks, said: “It was the first time I’d done CPR on a real person.
“But I was very aware I had to do something quickly. When I felt his pulse again I felt I was doing the right thing.”
Glenn smashed his head on the floor as he keeled over in Stratford, East London last October — on his 61st birthday.

He spent a month in hospital. Simon told ITV News how he later visited the star at his Berkshire home. Simon recalled: “He said, ‘You know you broke seven of my ribs?’
“We had a laugh. It was good to see he was on the road to recovery.”
Glenn’s family hailed him a hero. TV Robbie and ex-soccer manager Harry Redknapp also phoned to praise him.
Simon, who learnt CPR as a Special Constable, said: “I don’t see myself as a hero. But I don’t think anything I’ve done will be topped by saving a life.” Glenn told last week’s Sun on Sunday: “I wouldn’t be here if not for him.”
