Two men shot in New York’s Times Square as suspect who fled cops is still on the loose

  • Two men were shot in the leg in the heart of Times Square late last night 
  • The suspect escaped on foot and no arrests have yet been made, the NYPD said  

Two men were shot in the heart of Times Square at 41st St and 7th late on Monday night. 

Two males were both shot in the leg and that the suspect escaped on foot down 41st street, The NYPD confirmed. 

Both of the injured men were taken to Bellevue Hospital and were likely to live, DailyMail.com was told last night. 

A large police, Fire Department and emergency responder presence was seen in the area, which remained cordoned off in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

No motive is yet known, and the investigation is ongoing.

Footage from the scene’s aftermath showed officers attempting to keep the public back from the cordoned off zone, and marshalling traffic though the section. 

A witness on the scene, Christ Chadly wrote on Twitter: ‘Scariest moment in my life just happened in Times Square. 

‘Shots were fired and we had to run inside a store for shelter. I’m alive though that’s all that matters.’ 

Another witness said ‘I was biking, I was on my bike and I heard nine of ten shots from a gun and I was tripped out. 

‘I got off my bike and put it away because I was scared. 

‘I saw these guys,’ the man said gesturing to the police, ‘then I saw two people on the ground with blood everywhere’ he said.

Adding: ‘People were running away, it was scary it was loud you could hear it from blocks away.’
