UK weather: Brits face big chill as mercury plunges to -1C & SNOW is expected to fall | The Sun

BRITS are facing a big chill as the mercury plunges to -1C – with snow expected to fall.

Temperatures fell below zero in London and Scotland overnight, the Met Office said.

Today will have a frosty start before cloud and rain push eastwards across the UK.

It will be drier in Scotland, although showery rain will soak the Northern Isles.

Only in south west England will temperatures escape single figures.

The outlook is much the same for tonight, with the rain and drizzle set to persist.

Tomorrow the patchy rain will give way to brighter skies across the country.

But the Met Office said that it will be "rather cold" – with hill snow forecast for parts of Scotland and north east England.

Much of the country will be ruffled by breezy showers, although it will be slightly milder in the south.

The sky will brighten up on Tuesday and Wednesday, before the rain returns on Thursday.

The Met Office said: "Outbreaks of rain and some hill snow are likely to spread across parts of England and Wales during Thursday.

"This could be heavy and prolonged in places, before it begins to fade and clear away again to the south during Friday."
