This is the hilarious moment a cockatoo lays an egg on its owner’s lap. 

The 18-year-old umbrella cockatoo was filmed trying to squeeze out the egg for almost two minutes onto Erin Samela Audet’s lap. 

The small white bird makes straining noises while its crown of feathers stands up with every push.

The owner, Erin Samela Audet, stroked the teenage bird while it forced out the small white egg. 

Umbrella cockatoos can live into their 70s and are renowned in avian circles for being one of the most affectionate type of bird. 

The cockatoos are originally from Indonesia and do not like being put in a small cage. 

If they are left isolated they are known to self harm. They are also very easy to spoil and to not take change very well. 

Umbrella cockatoos have been known to get depressed if in a pet store and another animal they have an attachment to is sold.  

In the wild, they love to forage for seeds and nuts and like a varied diet. 

The birds can also be trained to learn a vocabulary of more than 50 words. 

If the bird is unhappy it will squawk loudly, especially if it was confined in a small cage or left on its own for long periods.
